Viruses, Spyware and Hijacking...
It's our worst nightmare.  We get  back several systems, each week, that are infected by some form of internet malware (includes viruses, spyware, adware and hijacking).  Our customers are frustrated and so are we... getting rid of this malware is a waste of time and money for our customers AND us.  Sometimes, it's difficult to prevent, but there are some things you can do to minimize your risk:
Custom Software vs. Packaged Software
This is going to sound strange coming from someone who writes and sells custom software, but, generally speaking, you're better off trying to find a software package that's already been written, if it will meet your needs. Pre-written, mass-produced software will be much less expensive.  It may not do everything you want, but, for the money you'll save, it may be worth it.  However, if you have a unique need, a custom database will work exactly the way you want it to.  Let us show you what we can do for you!
  1. Install an antivirus program and keep it updated.  Don’t ignore those “expiration” warnings.  Most antivirus programs must be renewed each year (contact us if you have questions about this).
  2. Scan your system at least once a month for viruses
  3. Install an anti-spyware program (such as Spybot Search and Destroy… you can download it free from the “Downloads” section of our website).
  4. NEVER open an e-mail attachment from someone you don’t know.
  5. When you visit websites, avoid clicking links or downloading files, unless you really know the website.  You can be hijacked in seconds.
  6. If you think you have a virus or are hijacked, contact us immediately.  Most of the things you try to do will only make it worse.
  7. TEACH THESE LESSONS TO YOUR KIDS!!!
